Overview

The Northern BC Workforce Career Transition Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Retraining and Opportunities Initiative. The project focuses on supporting workers who were affected by lay offs and unemployment in Prince George, Vanderhoof, Mackenzie, Quesnel and nearby communities. The project will provide skills training opportunities for participants to find meaningful employment.

This project will also develop a community workforce development plan in collaboration with local employers, training providers and community serving organizations. The objective of the plan is to align skills training with employer needs in the Northern BC community to help participants find in-demand careers in high growth sectors.

Question 1: Who can join the project?

If you currently reside in Prince George, Vanderhoof, Mackenzie, Quesnel or neighbouring communities and was affected by lay off, unemployment, or just simply looking to upskill your career

Question 2: Do I have to meet all eligibility to apply?

Yes, you have to be:

1) 18 years or older

2) Resident of either Prince George, Vanderhoof, Mackenzie, Quesnel, or nearby communities

3) Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Person granted refugee status

4) Legally entitled to work in Canada

Question 3: What can I expect?

We will connect you with a job developer for a one-on-one needs assessment. Based on the needs assessment, we will provide you employment support, skills training, and any wrap-around-support needed.

Question 4: Is it free?

Yes! This project is completely free for you! It is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Retraining and Opportunities Initiative.
